I once fell in love with a stone gargoyle
that stayed just down the street
A stone gargoyle that I tried in vain
to sweep off his feet
He could have been made of glass
He could have been made of bone
But his immobile heart
was made of brittle stone
Watching the aerodynamics of a lone bird in flight,
cursing all his useless might
My beautiful stone gargoyle,
maybe after a few thousand years
the gods will finally notice their grave slight
Maybe for a few moments you will finally be granted
the gift of life,
a few brief minutes of respite
Cracks in his armor
chipped away by time's embrace
No one notices
there's such incredible beauty
that exists within his silent grace.

to sweep off his feet
He could have been made of glass
He could have been made of bone
But his immobile heart
was made of brittle stone
Watching the aerodynamics of a lone bird in flight,
