As she comes undone,
you watch her
unravel
at the seams
Behold,
as she travels
on a backward journey,
rewinds, unwinds
to a place
she had only ever once seen
Once, she'd heard someone
quote Shakespeare,
"To sleep, perchance to dream",
but she knows
that it's never the same
dream
Her heavy sigh
transforms to a silent scream,
merged with the flapping
of a dove's wings,
it reminds her of
the person she'd once been,
someone you'd never see
on a movie screen
She empties herself
of the lies and the deceit,
changes the rules of the game,
such that
no longer do they contain conceit,
and as you watch,
existential onlooker,
witnessing her journey as she
unfolds,
you realize
she's building herself back on
a new foundation,
she's stronger than you ever believed
You only see as much as
she allows you to see,
she was never broken,
her truth her higher self has spoken,
infusing it
in every molecule,
each intimate atom,
of her being.
