The Softness of the Human Body

There are times 

I am struck with terror

at the softness 

of the human body-

the fragile vulnerability

of it's tender skin, 

it's bones

brittle and insecure...

and then

I am reminded of the 

ferocious tenacity

that bristles alive

at the core

of it's skeleton.
